Hazel 24th November 2010

Letter to staff at Willowburn Hospice To All Staff Thank you seems such a small word but please know, that it is sincerely meant and comes from our hearts. The love, care and support you have all shown not just to our Mam (Dorothy) but to each one of us goes far beyond nursing care. You are all angels, unique in every way and we don’t know where we would have been, or how we would have coped without each and every one of you during the last few months. I, personally will never forget the first time we brought mam into Willowburn. I felt as though I was deserting her, and the tears shed that day were only to be the first of many as her illness progressed. The nurses on duty seemed to know how I was feeling and their words of support and comfort will stay with me forever. You provided a safe, caring environment where we felt at ease and knew her well-being was of the utmost importance to you all. Mam’s death has left a huge void in all our lives and we are sure she has left a mark at Willowburn that will always be remembered. Her strength throughout her illness was something many people admired. A very special and caring lady whose only concern was for the family she was leaving behind. For us, she may be gone from our lives but will remain in our hearts forever and a day. Saturday 6th November will be a day we will never forget but one day hope we are able to look on this with happiness rather than the sadness we feel. Please continue to do what you do so well and take pride knowing the difference you make to so many people’s lives at such a sad time. Wishing you all continued success and if we can be of any help to you now, or in the future, please let us know, as there is a part of us that will remain with you always. Much love and thanks again for everything. Dorothy Kirkup’s family x x x x Special thanks for helping me achieve my wish to be with her to the very end. A very special moment I will cherish always.
